Dependable Strengths Facilitator
Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP)
Distance Credentialed Facilitator

Since May 2002, The Institute has been offering this increasingly popular program leading to certification as a Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) as recognized by the Center for Credentialing and Education, Inc. (CCE). An overview of the certification appears below, but be sure to check out the course description in the Class Schedule section of our web site for the schedule and fees.

Is the GCDF program right for you?

If you work with clients or customers who are re-connecting with the workplace or are moving into employment for the first time, you know how challenging it can be. Many people who do this have learned "in the trenches," without the benefit of formal training or education. If you're one of these folks, or if you're new to the career development field and want to learn the skills you need to be considered a professional, the GCDF Certification may be for you. The program is designed for career counselors, job developers, case managers, career coaches, career center staff, trainers, job coaches, employer reps, outplacement staff, and interviewers.

With GCDF Certification, you'll be able to:

  • Provide more professional assistance to the job seeker
  • Have more tools at your disposal to assist customers and clients
  • Experience greater confidence in your ability to do the job
  • Make yourself more valuable to your organization
  • Increase your opportunities for advancement
  • Earn an official credential which designates you as a "professional"
  • Earn concurrent credit toward certification as a Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP) through the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP)

To satisfy the educational requirements for GCDF certification, a full 120-hour course of instruction that meets the criteria established by the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE) must be completed. The course consists of 80 hours of classroom instruction over 14 days (approximately 2 days per month), with the remaining hours spent in outside research, assignments, activities, and real-life applications.

The GCDF program is rigorous and intensive, and requires a significant investment of time and energy, and thus should only be undertaken by those who are serious about obtaining certification. Students will be required to complete assignments and activities between classes.
